As a former teacher who spent four years in regular education, one year in special education, and one year in special education with a combined behavior disorder class, I recognize the need for integrating social and emotional needs into the academic setting. I am offering professional development workshops for school personnel working with children in pre-K through 4th grade. While my topics offered are framed towards helping those working in the mental health field, I recognize that teachers may also benefit.

Professional Development Workshops

1)Make and Take Workshop

Through this workshop attendees will create things they can use with their students. Many of the items made during this workshop can be used multiple ways and will aid in helping children grow socially and emotionally. This workshop will also focus on how to use what we make across grade levels.

2)Covid and Its Effects on Anxiety and Depression in Children

Anxiety and depression have increased amongst children during this pandemic. As a result, emergency room visits have increased, and social and emotional wellness is beginning to suffer. Through this workshop I will offer insight on the current and potential long-term effects of Covid on children. I will provide tools, across ages/grade levels, for helping those children who may be displaying signs of anxiety and depression by addressing their social and emotional needs.

3)How to Foster the Growth Mindset in Children

Attendees will gain a understanding of fixed mindset versus growth mindset. This workshop will focus on ways to help build the growth mindset. Attendees will learn how this can be done across ages/grade levels in the school setting.

4)Helping the Whole Child – Approaching Gaps in Social, Emotional, and Academic Learning

It’s no secret that gaps in social, emotional, and academic learning existed prior to this pandemic. What we are learning is that these gaps are growing bigger and appear to be affecting a larger population of children. Through this workshop attendees will gain an understanding of the signs to look for in children and ways in which they can address them.

All workshops are $120 per hour with each workshop lasting 1.5-2 hours. Interested in having a workshop done at your school? Wanting to know more about a workshop done on a requested topic of your choice? Email or call to find out more!
